HEY, I AM AMARI.
I am a coach and mind-body practitioner, enjoying a wholehearted life full of joy since recovering from decades of chronic illness.
Before my work in the healing space, I was a writer-director of films and an acting coach; but years of chronic invisible illness drew me to this work of helping people release stored stress, rewire their brains, and consciously integrate their being.
I spent much of my early life in bed with health issues. By my early forties the complex symptoms of chronic invisible illness were making any semblance of a normal life impossible. I pushed through for decades, living half a life.
Doctors offered a lot of labels during those decades: CFS/ME, Depression, Anxiety, Pots, Fibromyalgia, IBS, as well as Cancer. With each new proposed diagnosis, I tried new treatments, experimenting with a blend of western and holistic medicine, but nothing helped in the long-term, with my body always returning to a baseline of illness.
Along the way, repeated traumas intensified illness, and I came to understand the relationship between buried stressors, trauma and these health challenges.
Throughout those years, my grief was overwhelming, and my hope was often crushed. I wrestled with painful questions about the purpose of life, as it seemed so much suffering for me… and for all of us humans.
When I was bedbound and it looked like things would end soon as this body was breaking down so completely, I began to seek from the heart.
I listened to stories about about living and dying, consciousness and spirit. I was drawn to miracles, stories about Jesus healing the sick, stories about buddhist monks and american yogis.
As a filmmaker I knew that the hero of any movie will go through a sudden and wonderful plot twist that defies expectation. The big plot twist in my story is that my years of illness were there to teach me the value of my soul. It has taken me decades to begin to believe in a story in which I am unconditionally loved.
The cognitive belief in something is not the same as the truth of it in our hearts. The emotional heart and the Mindbody system need to experience something to really know it.
It was on this foundation of soulful healing that I began to experience physical healing. I discovered the role of the Mind, Body and Spirit in chronic systemic illness and began rewiring and reintegrating my system with a blend of cognitive, somatic, and spiritual practices.
Over time, with focused and consistent rewiring, I began to get my life back: sitting, then walking, then traveling, and then building my coaching business. As my neurological capacity opened up, I intentionally processed grief and began drawing protective boundaries, both of which ushered in more healing.
I began to build on my research, reading everything I could and going to study under thought leaders in healing and spiritual masters alike.
I have always been deeply committed to education and growth, with honours and postgraduate degrees from my early life and certifications in coaching and nutrition. And through the years of chronic illness and recovery, I’ve gained profound insights into what truly supports healing – insights that often go beyond traditional textbooks.
Today, I am grateful to be able to share what I have learned with you, through my offerings here on this website, in sessions and on social media channels that I am gently building up. My focus is to honour and resource both body and soul by offering holistic practices for the nervous system, mind, and heart.
I am so glad you’re here.
Since recovering from years bedbound and housebound, I love wandering around.
I love to be in nature, to see the sun, walking on the sand by the ocean.
I love to live a peaceful life, full of ease and joy.
I would love the same ease and joy for you.
with love, Amari
